Keynote Speaker Michael Levin on Stress Management: Who Said This?

May 25, 2018

I saw this quote and it aligned with my feelings and the theme of my book “Let Them See You Sweat:  Lessons I’ve Learned on My Personal Journey with Stress”.  That theme is that your solution is going to come from within and not from a pill.

The quote is

“The doctor of the future will give no medicine but will interest the patient in the care of the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease”.

You may be surprised who the quote came from.  I certainly was.  To me, this is a very modern and holistic perspective as to how we take care of ourselves.  If it was an older quote, I might have thought it came from an Eastern philosopher.

Can you guess who it was?  I was certainly wrong.  This quote came from the inventor of the light bulb and the phonograph, Thomas Edison.  He was clearly ahead of his time and we still today, in my mind, don’t practice this philosophy nearly enough.
